Why parents enroll

School teaches math. Sports teach teamwork. Who teaches feelings?

Most kids never get direct practice with the skills that shape their whole life: calming down after disappointment, joining a group, repairing a conflict, and trying again after mistakes. EQ Kids Club is a weekly space built just for that.

1

Big feelings get a plan

Kids practice what to do when frustration, disappointment, or worry shows up before the moment gets too big.

2

Friendship gets coached

We rehearse listening, sharing, apologizing, repairing conflict, and using words when play gets complicated.

3

Confidence gets practiced

Through games and role play, kids build the muscle of trying again when something is hard or goes wrong.

Our framework

Every kid learns the same four moves.

When a big feeling hits, kids who have practiced know what to do next. We rehearse this until it's second nature.

Your instructor

Led by a real person your kids will love.

Hanako Hashiguchi, lead instructor for EQ Kids Club

Hanako Hashiguchi

Lead Instructor, EQ Kids Club · Webster Groves

Hanako has been teaching and leading kids since 2010 at the art-and-nature summer camps of Cheekwood Estate & Gardens, on stage running live science shows for school audiences with Mr. Bond and the Science Guys, in children's dance classes she taught herself, and one-on-one as a tutor. Her classes are warm, active, and structured: kids are moving, playing, and talking instead of sitting through a lecture. She leads every EQ Kids session personally, keeps groups small so she can coach each child through real moments as they happen, and sends parents a short note each week about what the group practiced.

Fun fact kids love: Hanako has been an Irish dancer since age seven and was the highest-ranked dancer at her school.

Parent peace of mind

1

Grouped with care

The application helps us place kids by age and fit instead of dropping every child into one big mixed group.

2

Shy and energetic kids welcome

After each session, families get a short note about what the group practiced and a simple way to keep it going at home.

Common questions

What parents usually ask.

Is this therapy?

No. EQ Kids Club is an educational enrichment program, much like a sports team for emotional skills. Kids practice tools through games and activities. It is not counseling and not a substitute for it.

My kid is shy / my kid is high-energy. Will this work for them?

Both, genuinely. Sessions mix movement and quiet activities, and the small group size means Hanako can meet each child where they are. Shy kids are never put on the spot; high-energy kids get plenty of room to move.

What happens after I apply?

We review your application and reach out within one day to talk through schedule, group fit, and any questions. If it feels like a good match, we explain the next step and help you choose the right weekly group.

Does applying commit me to anything?

No. Applying is free and simply starts the conversation. It helps us understand your child, answer your questions, and make sure the group would be a good fit before you make a decision.

Why an application instead of just signing up?

Because groups are capped at 12 and grouped by age, we place kids carefully rather than first-come-first-served. The short application helps us build groups where every kid thrives.

How long is each class?

Classes are planned as two-hour weekly sessions. We'll share the confirmed day and time before enrollment begins.

Where exactly is The Monday Club?

The Monday Club is a historic community space near downtown Webster Groves, with easy parking and pickup. We'll send full directions and drop-off details when we confirm your spot.
